Oxford Street Pedestrianisation

Transport Committee

Innovative changes to bus routes and service patterns are required to achieve the Mayor’s plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street.

The Transport Committee will publish a letter to the Mayor spelling out what it believes needs to be done immediately to make the pedestrianisation plan achievable.

Monday 5 September
Creative Barking and Dagenham
Regeneration Committee site visit: 1:00pm-4:00pm

Location: Galleon Community Centre, IG11 7JR and the Ice House Quarter, IG11 7BT (nearest stations: Barking on the Hammersmith & City/ District Line and c2c rail services)

The Regeneration Committee will visit Barking town centre as part of its investigation into culture-led regeneration in London. The Committee will hear from Creative Barking and Dagenham and their work with local artists and the community. The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham will also discuss their work to regenerate Barking town centre around a new Artist Enterprise Zone.

London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority Q & A

Plenary meeting – 10:00am in The Chamber

At a full meeting of the London Assembly, Members will discuss topics including: workforce diversity, the challenges of keeping London safe, recruitment questions and more.

Diversity in apprenticeships
Economy Committee – 2:30pm in Committee Room 5

The Economy Committee will examine apprenticeships in London, focusing on how different groups can access them. The Committee will ask what the Mayor of London could do to make higher level apprenticeships more diverse.

Violence against women and girls
Police & Crime Committee – 10:00am in the Chamber

In London, reports of violence against women and girls are rising. The Police & Crime Committee will explore the nature and extent of violence against women and girls, the ways in which agencies are working together to prevent it, and the support available for victims.
