In recognition of the importance of Ash Wednesday to London’s Christians the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, today released a statement: “As Londoners from Anglican, Roman Catholic and other Christian faiths attend services today for Ash Wednesday, it is important to recognize the important work Christians do for our city. Churches are often at the heart of our communities, and I admire the important work many of their congregants do to help families through difficult times. I’m proud that these activities and values are shared by many Londoners, regardless of their nationality and beliefs.”
