04 July 2012

Statement from the organisers of World Pride 2012, Pride London, together with the Metropolitan Police, Westminster City Council and the Greater London Authority:World Pride celebrations will go ahead this Saturday 7th July on a smaller scale than originally planned. Everyone wants to see a safe, enjoyable event, which is why it is starting and finishing earlier than in previous years.Anyone joining the procession should be in Portman Square by 10am and be ready to set off at 11am. In the interest of safety, there will be no floats or vehicles in the procession. The celebration in Trafalgar Square will finish at 6pm. As with other large scale events, access will be restricted if it reaches capacity. There are also no planned street events in Soho and people should not go there expecting open air entertainment. Normal licensing will be in place and bars are expected to be extremely crowded, with limited capacity.People are urged to follow the advice being given to ensure a safe and successful Pride.
