Restoration of funding for disabled access and refurbishment work at Harrow-on-the-Hill station

Key information

Summary of petition

‘We the undersigned residents and users of Harrow-on-the-Hill Station are dismayed at the sudden decision by TfL (chaired by the Mayor) to withdraw the funding for disabled access and refurbishment works urgently required for this station.

We would like to draw to the attention of both the Mayor and London Assembly that the funding of £25 million was agreed with TfL as part of Harrow Council's negotiations in respect of the regeneration proposals for Harrow Town Centre. The sudden announcement of the cancellation of funding, with no consultation with Harrow Council, the London Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow and other stakeholders, is a serious blow not only to the much needed disability access to and upgrade of the station but to the regeneration of the town centre which has been designed relying on a new integrated public transport provision.

We are appalled that the funding allocation is put back by TEN years which is totally unacceptable. We support Harrow Council's dismay at the sudden cancellation of funding and call on the Mayor to restore the funding as agreed previously with TfL ’
