London’s open call finalists announced

We are thrilled to announce the 20 innovators chosen as finalists for our Designing London’s Recovery programme.

Earlier this year, the Mayor of London launched an open call inviting Londoners to take a radically creative and collaborative approach to co-creating transformative solutions that would help London recover from the devastating impacts of Covid-19.

We received hundreds of compelling ideas from a wide range of innovators across London, and our judges panel was faced with the difficult task of shortlisting a set of Innovation Teams that will embark on a co-creation sprint to bring their solutions to life.

Now, 20 ideas pitched by multi-disciplinary Innovation Teams from across London-based organisations from the private, public, and third sector, have been selected to participate in the programme. These Innovation Teams will receive expert support and coaching from Design Council, the GLA, and UCL CUSSH to help them develop their idea and embark on a co-design journey with the communities that their ideas will support.

Delivered in partnership with the Design Council, the Programme will support the development of early-stage innovative ideas to address key challenges as set out by four of the Recovery Missions outlined in the London Recovery Programme. These ideas aim to address the most pressing and systemic challenges faced by Londoners, helping the city emerge stronger from the impacts of Covid-19.

The finalists will now have until November 2021 to develop their ideas, when they will have an opportunity to submit bids to secure between £30,000 to £40,000 each to test, develop, and scale their ideas in 2022.

You can find out more about the finalists here.
