A decision is sought to award regeneration funding to the London Borough of Richmond, enabling them to work closely with Network Rail to bring forward a package of improvements to Twickenham station. This will ensure that the station and immediate area provides an improvement for existing rail users, easing local problems for local residents and provides an appropriate gateway for world call events and visitors during the Rugby World Cup in the autumn of 2015. Without the additional funding that the Mayor can provide, this comprehensive improvement scheme will not be able to go ahead.
