Decision by:
Boris Johnson, Mayor

The London Housing Strategy (“LHS”) must contain the Mayor’s proposals and policies for promoting the improvement of housing conditions in, and meeting the housing needs of, Greater London. It must also set out the Mayor’s spending recommendations as to housing for relevant investment periods. Changes to the government’s funding allocation method and the transfer to the Mayor of the Homes and Communities Agency’s functions in London make the revision of the of current 2010 LHS necessary. Approval is sought to agree the contents of a draft revised LHS to be submitted for public consultation as the second statutory stage of consultation required in respect of publishing a final revised LHS. A document containing initial proposals for a revised LHS was submitted to the London Assembly and Functional Bodies for consultation in August 2011. Following this, a draft revised LHS has been produced, and it is intended that this will be published for public and stakeholder statutory consultation in December 2011. It is intended that the final revised LHS will be adopted and published after the GLA elections in 2012.
