Correspondence with BT about broadband and Wi-Fi

18 July 2012

On 11 July 2012, our Economy Committee held a meeting about broadband and Wi-Fi infrastructure in the capital.

The Committee examined the impact of broadband speed on the capital’s economic performance and what could be done to boost the service.

Members asked about the progress of the government’s broadband strategy and BT’s upgrade programme.   They will also looked at the rollout of Wi-Fi in public places and on the Tube network.

The Committee heard from representatives of businesses that rely on the services and experts, as well as providers and policymakers.

Following the meeting, BT wrote to the Economy Committee to clarify a number of issues and the Chair of the Committee responded.  Read the correspondence, below.
