Please note that this event has already occured.

Key information

Date: Saturday 09 April 2016

Time: 1:00pm to 6:00pm

Venue: City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE, GB

Cost: This is a free event

Come and celebrate the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi with an afternoon of indoor and outdoor activities at City Hall.

A celebration of Sikh tradition, heritage and culture, the event programme will include shabad kirtan (spiritual music), langar (food), turban tying, folk music, martial arts, children’s activities, and much more!

The event is organised by the Mayor of London, with support from Singh Sabha London East and EY Sikh Network.

Last year’s Vaisakhi event attracted large crowds to City Hall and unfortunately not everyone was able to gain entry. This year on Saturday 9th April we are arranging the programme differently with more activity taking place outside. There will be kirtan, exhibitions by Sikh artists, children’s activities and community stalls inside City Hall, and langar, community stalls and turban tying outside on More London Riverside, as well as folk music and gatka on The Scoop. There will be lots of volunteers able to provide information and help on the day, so come along and enjoy our festival of Vaisakhi.
