With less than 200 days to go before the start of the London 2012 Games, Daniel Ritterband explains why 2012 will be a year like no other.
Monday 9 January marked 200 days to go before the start of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
London 2012 will be the world’s first truly digital Games. As a start, we’ve launched a fantastic new website, Mayor of London presents, where you can find out about the packed programme of events and celebrations we’re putting on to mark our Olympic year. Better still, all of our events won't cost you a single penny.
Wherever you are in London, you’ll be able to enjoy free entertainment and share in the Olympic and Paralympic experience with once in a lifetime events, pop-up performances, magical trails and fun for the whole family.
It really will be a 'summer like no other' for Londoners and visitors alike. Great happenings include Secrets, a series of events where you’ll be able to discover some of London’s hidden gems and Showtime, an outdoor arts festival in high streets, parks and open spaces across town.
There will be something for everyone from London Live in Hyde Park, Victoria Park and Trafalgar Square, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Torch Relay and events across the city to coincide with the Games.
If you want to stay ahead of all the amazing stuff going on, you can sign up for updates on the events and celebrations happening in central London and in your local area on: www.molpresents.com. You'll also get access to behind the scenes footage, exclusive content, and with our sponsors, chances to win tickets to the best Olympic sporting action.
Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @MoLpresents and like us on Facebook and tell your friends and family in London about the new website too.
