Young Ambassadors were asked to design a poster which encourages schools, community groups and individuals to host their own street party to celebrate The Queen’s support of hundreds of charities over the course of her 63-year reign. These street parties gave local communities across the Commonwealth the chance to share in the fun whilst also providing them with an opportunity to raise funds for local initiatives and community programmes.

The Mall event on Sunday was the finale to a fantastic weekend of celebrations over The Queen’s official birthday weekend, with 10,000 guests in attendance, including The Queen, Prince Philip and many other members of the Royal Family.

One of the winning schools was Allenby Primary School in Southall. The young volunteers have taken part in all sorts of social action throughout the year including bake sales, clothing drives and food bank collections within the Ealing community. They have also volunteered their time at the local cancer charity shop and raised awareness for issues they care about including body image, cancer, support of the elderly, cyber bullying, the environment, gender rights and homelessness.

Pupils from St. Stephen's School and Children's Centre in Newham were also successful in winning tickets for the lunch. This year, the socially active young volunteers, as part of their school council, chose to focus on the problem of litter in Newham. They organised a school litter week which saw the whole school doing litter runs and parents joined in and made it a real community effort.

At 4pm the the world sang ‪#‎HappyBirthdayYourMajesty‬ – the young volunteers pre-recorded this ‪#‎ChorusForTheQueen‬ which was broadcast on screens during The Mayor of London’s Patron’s Lunch on Trafalgar Square.
